This year’s Coats for the Needy Campaign that St. Michael’s Knights of Columbus sponsored was the biggest ever. This year we collected a total of 625 coats along with 685 other winter apparel items. St. Michael Knights of Columbus member Chris Kelly started this campaign a few years back.
Along with the collection at the Masses, the Knights of Columbus sponsored a competition collection between the school classes to see who could bring in the most items. Mrs. Widener’s 2nd grade class was the winner again this year. They brought in 84 coats along with 170 other winter apparel. Mrs. Buckley’s 2nd grade class was the 2nd place winner. They brought in 57 coats along with 55 other winter apparel. Both classes will receive a donut and milk breakfast for their hard earned effort that they put forth.
God bless everyone who had a part in this special program from the parishioners who never cease to amaze us, our Knights of Columbus members and their wives who helped with the collection, sorting and delivery. The coats and apparel were delivered to Catholic Charities, Wayside Christian Ministries and Jeffersontown Area Ministries.
