The History of St. Michael School
In August of 1997, St. Michael Catholic School opened with two kindergartens and one first grade with an enrollment of 59 students. Classes were held in the parish Family Life Center while the school was being built.
In August, 1998, the Lifelong Learning Center was ready for occupancy. Two kindergartens, two first grades, one second grade, and a pre-school (3 and 4 year olds) moved into the school.
Each year, through 2005, one grade was added to complete the occupancy of two of each grade, K – 8. During the 2007 – 2008 school year, pre-registration indicated that the addition of a third kindergarten was necessary for the upcoming year. 460 students enrolled for the 2008 – 2009 school year and a third class for each grade was begun.
Enrollment has remained steady, and as of 2016, we now have three classes in every grade level. Junior Kindergarten was also added in 2016.
Pre-school enrollment remains at capacity at 102 students. Additional afternoon classes were added in 2008 to accommodate the overflow of students.
